I built this binder a couple years ago and never used it. It was built when I was ramping up production quantities to substute for lost income when I was laid off from the day job. Circumstances changed in only a few months, eliminating the need for volume production tools.

It is a two string system having primary tensioning adjustment provision on the spools & secondary tensioning adjustment provision on the thread guides. The spools are about five inches tall and can hold quite a bit of thread. The white PVC tube is removable - replaceable so as to permit cleaning after use. Binding occurs in the gap between the infeed and out feed support tubes. Once mounted onto a flat surface the two tubes will align. Worked slick in dry runs.

The binder is primarilly constructed out of aluminum except for the gears, shafts, thread management hardware and fasteners. It is intended to be fastened onto a bench or machine base in order to facilitate taking power from a geared down electric motor. In my construction I used a handy 3/4 horse motor and a gear reducer transmitting power to the binder by chain. Motor was controlled on-off with a momentary contact 115 v. microswitch in a foot pedal (which you can have if you want). I would feed the grouped and glued splines into the feed tube to the gap. Grab the threads and wrap them around the group, start winding while pullng the splines thru using a forward and back motion to start effectively tying the start end up and then returning to pulling thru to finish the binding.

WYSIWYG

Price is $250.00 plus shipping. I am willing to trade for useful stuff; machine shop-machinists tools, tackle. Call and we can talk about this. Binder as pictured will ship UPS. Feels like about 60 pounds.

Along with this binder I built a steel machine base in which is housed a 3/4 horse motor and gear reduction for the chain drive. 12 Gauge steel, removable side covers, in red oxide primer, on a caster base. I figure I can use it for other projects but will make it available for $100.00 to the buyer of the binder. Too heavy for UPS. A buyer located within driving distance to Connecticut might be interest in it as the binder will obviously bolt right on. No pics of the base.
